Julie McKee’s play, WILL SACRIFICE will be produced by Chester Theater, MA this summer, 2024.  Most recently A HOLIDAY ON ICE IN A WARM CLIMATE was commissioned by CCTA (Climate Change Theatre Action).  Other plays, which include: THE ADVENTURES OF AMY BOCK, THE SECRET LIFE OF SEAWEED, THE SLEEPER AWAKENS, RON’S GARDEN, GET IT WHILE YOU CAN, FREE ASCENT, PLAY BY EAR, and short plays have been seen at The Ensemble Studio/Marathons, Women’s Project, Yale Repertory Theatre, HB Playwrights Foundation, Spectrum Stage, Collider Theatre, and all over the US as well as London, Auckland, Toronto and Munich,Heidelberg, and many more in Billy Carden’s HBPF Short Play Summerfest.

Awards, residencies and fellowships from New York Foundation for the Arts, Sundance Playwrights Lab, EST/Sloan Foundation Commissions, nominated for the Susan Smith-Blackburn Prize (by EST), plus MacDowell Colony, VCCA, St, James Cavalier in Malta, 360 Xochi Quetzal Artist and Writer’s Residency Mexico. A finalist for O’Neil Summer Conference, and Chesterfield Screen writing Fellowship.

Her work has been published by Smith & Kraus, Playscripts Inc.(Great Short Plays, and Monologues for Women), and The Arctic Cycle. “Lighting the Way”.

Julie received the Truman Capote Fellowship and Eugene O’Neill  Scholarship from Yale School of Drama (MFA program) where she studied with Richard Gilman, Mac Wellman, Mark Bly, Marlene Meyer, María Irene Fornés, Donald Margulies and Ming Cho Lee.  She also studied acting with Uta Hagen.

She is a playwright member of Ensemble Studio Theatre, a member of Honor Roll, Dramatists Guild of America, and AEA/SAG/AFTRA.
