TEACHING STATEMENT:

“Starting with young people’s openness to play, the acting techniques, exercises and games I use expand the students’ imagination, awareness, and develop their concentration, collaboration and expressivity. To this end, I work as a guide who listens to her pupils and helps them find the processes that will start and sustain them on their way.”

BIO:

Claudia Terry has been working with the Black Orchid Theatre Group performing in LORD BYRON’S CAIN and EVERYMAN. She can also be seen in the documentary, OUT FROM THE SHADOWS: THE STORY OF IRÈNE JOLIOT-CURIE AND FRÉDÉRIC JOLIOT-CURIE. She has played Margaret in GOETHE’S FAUST, Queen Emma in CEREMONY OF INNOCENCE and Barbara Allen in DARK OF THE MOON for the St. Genesius Guild. She has acted in plays created by the renowned Indonesian director Putu Wijaya. She was also a dancer in GADJAH MADA, the first Indonesian performance produced at Lincoln Center. She was seen in HOMESPUN WEBS, written by C.J. Ehrlich. She has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and with cooperative acting groups like Truth and Dare. She worked for the Broadway producer Benjamin Mordecai. She received her B.F.A. in Drama from NYU, Tisch School of the Arts and her M.A. in Theater from Hunter College. She has taught theater for CUNY.
