Coronel- Speech 1- Spring Term 2020

Online teaching statement from instructor Joy Coronel: “Speech I is designed to study the basic fundamentals of speech through the International Phonetics Alphabet and the knowledge of oral anatomy. Classes will be conducted synchronously and asynchronously, requiring students to meet by video each week and then work on assignments outside of class. While some of the class will require a lecture, students will also have the opportunity to learn from videos, class discussions, and performances.

“Tech Requirements: You will need access to Zoom on a computer, smartphone or tablet, and will be emailed details for how to join the meeting. You will also need to have the Speech I Handout, which will be emailed to you in a PDF prior to class. You may have the PDF file opened on you computer/device during class or you may print it.

“I ask that you come into this with an open mind and heart. This may be one of the most unique and adventurous learning opportunities we have. In person or online, exploring and learning from the world of speech remains the same.”
