With the start of Spring Term, beginning the week of March 30, until we are able to resume classes at the Studio, this class will be held online via Zoom Conferencing.
Online Teaching Statement from Instructor Francesca Ferrara:
“We are sailing through uncharted waters now, and must create our own course (figuratively and literally). I am open to seeing how my online acting class will organically take shape, but I will begin with storytelling exercises and monologue / soliloquy work. We will move into partnered scenes, and utilize our time online to delve into text work. The word “rehearse” contains the word “re-hear.” As we re-hear the lines of a particular text over and over, the playwright’s clues to unlock the emotional lives of the characters are revealed. There is much fruitful work which can be accomplished in an online setting. And while we’re losing the senses of touch and smell and taste, we still have sight and sound. Even with the current state of affairs, we must continue to passionately explore ourselves and ourselves in the art.”
