Online Teaching Statement from Lorraine Serabian: “Studying virtually adds a new perspective of intimacy for the actor and an added dimension to the work. Our actors find this challenging and very satisfying. Yes, it is possible to create that authentic connection with your partner even though you are, in some cases, miles away. Actors as far as Florida and other states and countries as far as Japan and Switzerland have risen to the challenge. It is a wonderful opportunity for local as well as international students to join us in this new venue! Our actors are flourishing through the challenge and continue to find ways to discover new avenues of authenticity and communication working in a safe virtual space. Students are given permission to explore the unlimited possibilities of this relatively new mode of study.
“I am allowing students to have the option of working on monologues or to be paired up with others for scene work. I incorporate the basic Hagen approach with new and ever-emerging techniques to find truth and authenticity in the work.
