Presented by Igor Golyak –
Held in-person:
“Any great work of art is great because it creates a special world of its own. It revives and readapts time and space, and the measure of its success is the extent to which it makes you an inhabitant of that world–the extent to which it invites you in and lets you breathe its strange, special air.” – Leonard Bernstein
This class for actors dives into an analysis of the work of Anton Chekhov through scene study. We will unearth the circumstances, breathe life into these characters from long ago and find a way to relate to them. Beginning with a breakdown of the script, we’ll explore story events, slogan, intention and motivation. Chosen scenes will be workshopped, then presented to the group during the final class.
The aim of these sessions is to discover and nurture a creative self as a generative artist. Through exercises and prompts, you are urged to discover many means of expression and use the world around you, as well as your own experiences, as inspiration.
