Rehearsed scenes from Anton Chekhov’s plays are critiqued and developed in class. Scenes will be drawn from IVANOV, THE SEAGULL, UNCLE VANYA, THREE SISTERS, and THE CHERRY ORCHARD. Recommended translations by Carol Rocamora and Paul Schmidt.
In preparation for this workshop, you are encouraged to read the above plays and bring in a monologue from one of them for the first day of class.
Note: As many scenes as time allows will be presented each week, but it is not expected that all participants will present every session. For a deeper dive into the work, the full 10 weeks (Part A & B) are recommended.
