Presented by Director/Casting Director Pat Golden –
To be held online via Zoom:
Director Pat Golden, in collaboration with playwright Eduardo Machado, leads this scene study workshop for actors focused on the plays of Cuban-American playwright Eduardo Machado. The workshop focuses on script analysis, character development, character relationships, subtext, action and each play’s world by concentrating on specific scenes from Machado’s canon.
A leading playwright of our time, Eduardo Machado’s opus of over 50 plays include works that are often semi-autobiographical and center around themes of Cuban American life. Described by Ben Brantley as having “epic qualities,” his plays are “steeped in both sober economic and political detail and shadowy mysticism, in expansive comedy and unabashed melodrama.” Once a student of Maria Irene Fornes, Machado’s plays have been produced across the United States, and include titles such as THE COOK, HAVANA IS WAITING, and BROKEN EGGS.
