Rehearsed scenes from the works of American playwrights Annie Baker (Nocturna, Body Awareness, The Aliens), Amy Herzog (After the Revolution, 4,000 Miles) and Lillian Hellman (The Children’s Hour, The Little Foxes, Watch on the Rhine, Another Part of the Forest, The Autumn Garden, The Lark, Toys in the Attic) are critiqued and worked in class. Scenes may be drawn from the above works and more.
In preparation for this workshop, you are encouraged to read any of the playwrights’ plays from above, and are invited to bring in a monologue for the first day of class.
Note: As many scenes as time allows will be presented each week, but it is not expected that all participants will present every session. For a deeper dive into the work, the full 10 weeks (Part A & B) are recommended.
