This workshop gives actors language tools to work with heightened text, with a focus on the works of William Shakespeare and George Bernard Shaw. Topics include the difference between heightened and naturalistic language, structure, rhythm, energy, sound, and clarity. We will also explore actioning as a tool to activate heightened text, and the relationships between sound and meaning, and emotion and diction. The aim of technique is freedom in rehearsal and performance.
