Teen Voice Over: Cartoons & Videogames (ages 13-17)

To be held online via Zoom:

A one-weekend voice over workshop for teens (ages 13-17). Over the course of this 5-hour, 2-day workshop, Theresa and Ryan will jump into the performance styles of animation and video game voice acting with teenage actors, focusing on a variety of archetypal roles (hero, villain, sidekick, cute non-human, gross non-human, etc). The emphasis will be on interpreting image and text while bringing individual uniqueness into the mix, quickly and with an openness to full silliness. Day one will center on approaching text, image and given circumstances with the goal of finding vocal characterization and responsiveness. Day two will center on performance, tackling as many characters as possible – using our preparation AND letting loose!

Voice Over director Theresa Buchheister has directed and sound-engineered many cartoons and videogames, including Cartoon Network’s Pokémon XYZ, Hoopa and the Clash of Ages, Nickelodeon’s The Winx Club and Netflix’s World of Winx, Robocar Poli, Mily: Miss Questions, BoyGirlDogCatMouseCheese, and more. As a performer, Theresa has voiced cartoon characters on shows including Pokémon, The Winx Club, and Mily. Voice actor Ryan William Downey has been heard on podcasts, audiobooks, in many plays and, most notably, on the Pokémon film and television series playing a variety of characters.
