COVID-19 Update for International Students

HB Studio will abide by the Federal COVID- 19 updated Guidance  from ICE and the Student and Exchange Visitor Program, originally issued in March 2020. The March 2020 guidance applies to nonimmigrant students who were actively enrolled at a U.S. school on March 9, 2020, and are otherwise complying with the terms of their nonimmigrant status, whether from inside the United States or abroad.

Following the guidance from ICE and the Student and Exchange Visitor Program, HB Studio will be using a hybrid study model through, which allows new and initial students to take a full time program that combines online and in person classes.

Regular classes in the International Studio Class Program will continue to be offered online and in person (voice, speech, movement, acting technique and scene study). The Independent study project lab will be hybrid and will hold meetings online and in person.

Our returning students in active status have the option to take all classes online or to choose a hybrid program of study.

New and initial students must be enrolled in a hybrid program and are required to take at least one class in person.

New Students starting a Full Time program under an F-1 Visa in upcoming terms at HB Studio have the following options:

  1. New students can apply for  The Hagen Core Training to study onsite at HB starting in the Fall ’22 term (September 12, 2022-June 5, 2022).
  2. New students may travel to the U.S. to take part in an in-person or hybrid program of study as part of the International Studio Class Program. This would involve participation in regular classes conducted online and in person and participation in the hybrid Independent Study Project Lab that would have biweekly or monthly lab meetings in person in small groups.
  3. New students may do a co-enrollment with LIU Brooklyn as part of HB’s International Studio Class Program, with HB holding their SEVIS record. They would take mostly online classes at HB, could opt for the hybrid independent study project, AND could apply to enroll in an on-site class at LIU’s Brooklyn campus, in their Communications department, for example. https://liu.edu/Brooklyn/Academics/Liberal-Arts-Sciences

The SEVP Program will continue to provide updates to the academic community through our communication channels, including Broadcast Messages, SEVP field representatives, Study in the States blog posts and social media and we will continue to refer to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Department of State and U.S. Customs and Border Protection for the latest COVID-19 information, specific port-of-entry screening processes, as well as any travel restrictions.
