Noël Coward’s Design for Living at 90
Design for Living opened on Broadway in early 1933. Noël Coward, who wrote the play for himself and the Lunts, opted to premiere the work in New York rather than London, partly for fear of being denied a license by the Lord Chamberlain, then Britain’s official censor.
