1.) Stage Management Intern for DESIGN FOR LIVING
HB Playwrights Theatre seeks a Stage Management intern for our upcoming Performance Lab Production of Noel Coward’s ‘Design for Living,’ directed by Tony Award winning Broadway director, Jack Hofsiss. The internship provides an exciting opportunity to assist a master director and an acclaimed team of professional and award winning designers on this classic Noël Coward play. Jack Hofsiss, utilizing his inspired theatrical vision, is creating an immersive and site specific production that plunges the audience’s senses into the center of Coward’s inimitable characters’ world.
Production dates:
Tech rehearsals 5/13 – 5/15, 5pm – 10pm.
Performances: 5/16, 5/17, 5/20, 5/21, 5/22, 5/23, & 5/24.
All performances are at 7pm.
Strike follows final performance on 5/24.
Rehearsals begin the week of April 20th, and will include a combination of day and evening times. There will be approximately 4 rehearsals scheduled each week until tech begins. Intern would need to be available for all tech rehearsals and performances, and as many rehearsals as possible.
The Stage Management internship is an excellent opportunity to develop Stage Management skills while working in a professional Off-Off Broadway theatre environment with professional directors and actors. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage a cast of actors and run crew, take accurate blocking and staging notes, and call sound and light cues for tech and performance. Some level of Stage Management experience is required.
The Stage Management intern will report directly to the Production Manager.

2.) Theatre Technicians & Run Crew for DESIGN FOR LIVING
HB Playwrights Theatre seeks Theatre Technicians and Run Crew for our upcoming Performance Lab Production of Noël Coward’s ‘Design for Living,’ directed by Tony Award winning Broadway director, Jack Hofsiss.
This is an excellent opportunity to get involved with technical production and the opportunity to work with Professional Designers. We seek volunteers of all skill levels, and will provide training and supervision.
Positions and Production Dates and are as follows:
RUN CREW & AUDIO TECHNICIAN needed for the run of the show. Run crew would work directly with the stage manager assisting with the pre-show setup and reset at the end of each performance, as well as executing the seamless transition between environments during the performance. Audio technician would work with the sound designer and live musicians and would run all recorded sound cues. The performance and tech schedule is:
Tech rehearsals 5/13 – 5/15, 5pm – 10pm.
Performances:
5/16, 5/17, 5/20, 5/21, 5/22, 5/23, & 5/24.
All performances are at 7pm.
Strike follows final performance on 5/24.
Run crew would need to be available for tech rehearsals and all performances.

3.) STAGE MANAGEMENT INTERN FOR JUNE’S THE CENTRAL PARK PLAYS
HB Playwrights Theatre seeks Stage Management interns for our upcoming 10 Minute Play Festival: ‘The Central Park Plays‘. Production dates are as follows:
Tech rehearsals 6/22 - 6/24, 2pm - 10pm.
Performances:
6/25 @ 8pm,
6/26 @ 8pm,
6/27 @ 3pm & 8pm,
6/28 @ 3pm & 8pm.
Strike follows final performance on 6/28.
Intern would need to be available for all tech rehearsals and performances. Additional rehearsals begin 6/9, and attendance at as many rehearsals as possible is desired.
The Stage Management internship is an excellent opportunity to develop Stage Management skills while working in a professional Off-Off Broadway theater environment with professional directors and actors. The 10 Minute play festival is an Equity Approved Showcase; the stage management intern does not need to be a member of AEA.
The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage a large cast of actors and run crew. Stage Management intern would oversee the preshow set up and the smooth transition and change over between each of the plays. Other duties include running the light board, and calling audio cues.
The Stage Management intern will report directly to the Production Manager. Training on the lighting board will be provided.
